Women in Energy 2024

Studio Notes | What We’ve Been Up To
Our own Hannah Rooney yesterday spoke at “Women in Energy”, as part of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) Energy Conference at the RDS in Dublin. Sharing the stage with with the Director of Creative Ireland, Tania Banotti, it was a chance to share progress on our Spark Creative Climate Action Fund project “From Plan to Do”.
From Plan To Do uses a service design to approach the problem of sustainable energy communities (SECs) being immobilised by plans and ideas, and helps drive impact by laying a clear path to action. We’re already half way through the project and after a mammoth research phase, lots of insights have been gathered which we’re now sharing with communities nationally on the prototype website www.fromplantodo.ie. Already this work has been a huge reminder of the importance of challenging assumptions and designing with evidence.
We’re now getting to the really exciting part, co-design! We will be bringing this rich insight forward into co-design workshops which will ask the right questions to the right people – the volunteers who are the lifeblood of sustainable energy communities. We’ll be looking to them for creative ideas and solutions to some of the challenges we’ve identified, after which we’ll get our hands dirty and prototype some of these ideas in the community.
There’s so much potential in this work, and we’re grateful to our partners Connecting Cabra, Dublin City Council, and Zero Carbon for joining us on this journey. A big thank you also to Creative Ireland and the Spark Creative Climate Action Fund for supporting this valuable work.
