We are excited to introduce Harry Cloney as the newest Service Designer to join our team at Context Studio!
Harry holds a BA in Fine Art: Media from NCAD, where he honed his skills in photography, game design, and curation. More recently, he completed an MA in Interaction Design from NCAD, where he studied alongside his now-coworker, Hannah! During his master’s, Harry focused on design for behaviour change.
His project, “Mindful Consumption,” was a research and prototype-based initiative aimed at exploring mindfulness in food consumption. Using rapid prototyping and user research, he developed a tool that visualises daily food intake using the familiar structure of the food pyramid—a concept that people understand but often struggle to implement.
The final output was a narrative-based app where users follow a character named Milo as he climbs a mountain. The path Milo takes depends on how balanced the user’s food consumption is throughout the day: if the user eats well, Milo has an easy climb; if not, Milo faces a tough hike. Milo’s journey mirrors the user’s efforts to achieve a balanced lifestyle, symbolising persistence and determination.
Harry’s fascination with user research and employing long-term testing to inform and evolve products emerged during his thesis. In his own words, Harry says he didn’t solve healthy eating entirely, but gained valuable insights into why people struggle to maintain balanced lifestyles.
Harry joins us after three years with the digital experience team at the HSE. He began as a UX Assistant and transitioned to a User Researcher role after graduating from his MA. At the HSE, he worked on improving digital experiences for public health service users.
Outside of work, Harry is a multi-talented individual. He spends his free time as a drummer, photographer, gamer, and devoted cat dad.
We are thrilled to have Harry on board and look forward to the innovative and insightful contributions he will bring to our work.
