Studio Notes | What We’ve Been Up To
We’re delighted to welcome Hannah Rooney to the Context Studio team as our newest Service Designer!
Hannah joins us after completing her Interaction Design Master’s at NCAD. Specialising in public sector design, she completed her thesis on citizen engagement in social housing.
A lot of her work throughout the year centred around the development of new theories of citizen engagement in various forms, through innovative experience prototyping and service design. We’re especially excited to have her expertise in workshop facilitation on some of our next exciting projects in the community design space.
One of Hannah’s academic projects, in collaboration with Dublin City Council, entitled, “Sea The Future”, reimagined public engagement and fostered meaningful conversations about the impact of climate change and rising sea levels on communities. The work has earned her a place on the shortlist for the IDI Interaction Design graduate project of the year! The awards will be announced on October 19th – so watch this space!
Prior to going back to study full time, Hannah spent almost a decade working in technology. She cut her teeth in sales and customer success working on strategy and digital transformation for enterprise customers, and eventually migrated over to where her passions lie, in user research and insights.
She worked across companies including LinkedIn, HubSpot and most recently spent three years at Irish tech unicorn, Intercom, founding their first voice of the customer programme back in 2019.
She’s delighted to be able to carry the skills that she built throughout this time into the design space, helping clients reimagine their services with innovation and prototyping, all based on rich people-centred insights.
Hannah describes her research and design practice as socially-engaged and continues passion projects in the areas of climate action and universal social housing outside of her day-to-day role. She’s a qualified yoga teacher, with a specialism in accessible yoga and a passion for inclusion – she also teaches painting when she has the chance!
She spends her weekends walking her energetic collie, Bodhi, and learning the concertina – but not at the same time!
Hannah will be hitting the ground running… focusing on our previously announced Creative Ireland funded project “Sustainable Energy Communities – from Planning to Climate Action”.
