Studio Notes | What We’ve Been Up To
We are thrilled to announce that Áine Power has joined the Context Studio team as our newest Service Designer!
Áine brings a wealth of experience in editorial design, advertising, and branding, and has most recently been working as a freelance multidisciplinary designer. Áine holds a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication and a first-class honours Master’s degree from the Interdisciplinary Creative Arts programme at Technological University Dublin, where she also served as class representative throughout the COVID lockdown!
Her thesis, ‘On The Ropes’, is a commendable multimodal project comprising both a publication and a film. This project was recognised by the Institute of Designers in Ireland in the categories of Design for Sustainability and Moving Image.
‘On The Ropes’ explores and challenges the representation of a post-industrial landscape, specifically focusing on the cultural practice of The Fishery in Arklow Town. Through testimonials, essays, and photography provided by the local community, the publication acts as a journal that brings to life the cultural significance of ‘The Fishery’. Both the publication and the film take an ethnographic approach to visualising cultural practice, and actively involve the community in exploring new possibilities.
In addition to an already impressive portfolio, Áine has earned a certificate in Design for Sustainability and Circular Economies from the Technological University of Shannon.
Her passion for creating innovative and sustainable solutions and designing for impact aligns perfectly with our mission at Context Studio, and we are excited to see how her expertise and vision will contribute to our projects and our team!
