Studio Notes | What We’ve Been Up To
Our own John Lynch will be speaking next week at Munster Technological University in the company of a stellar lineup of speakers at an event highlighting the rising tide for service design in Ireland and the opportunity this represents for academia and research.
The keynote speaker on the day is none other than Prof Birgit Meyer, of Köln International School of Design and President of the global Service Design Network.
The day will include contributions from other accomplished services designers and academics including Julianne Coughlan, Service Design Manager at Cork County Council, Karen Fitzgerald, Service Design Manager at Fáilte Ireland, and Dr. Sarah Hayes, Assistant Lecturer at Department of Media Communications, MTU.
John will reflect on practice as a service design director, the diversity of contexts within which service design can be applied, and the (naturally) varying levels of design maturity across organisations. These are the complexities which academics must not only acknowledge, but accommodate in their research and educational approach.
The event is currently sold out, but if you would like to attend, you can still register for the waitlist at this link!
Ahead of the event, huge thanks must go to Dr. Fred Creedon of MTU, and indeed to Munster Technological University for funding the event under their Strategic Alignment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement Funding 2022-23 (SATLE 2022-23) with coordination and support from the Teaching and Learning Unit (TLU).
